For all you artists and writers out there, especially when the two of you on occasion must work together, contracts are crucial to large projects.  In my experience it can be pretty difficult to find the information you need online without paying someone for it, and lawyers are just out of the question unless you are ready to drop $1000-2000 or more.  I’ve had clients who know lawyers who write up contracts, I’ve written up my own, searched around, and I’ve finally found some great information and combined two contracts with a few tweaks to make the ULTIMATE AIR TIGHT CONTRACT! (the originals were from a client and from blog.illustrationcastle.com)  This contract includes Royalties, Artist’s rights to a contract, the option to purchase a contract, NDA, protection for both parties, payment scheduling, advanced deposit, cancellation, survival, and much much more.  It’s about 7-8 pages long so it’s quite a read, but if you ever wanted an air tight contract that equally protects both sides and is fair, this is the contract for you!  Feel free to use it, modify it, or just learn from it!

Where the hell have YOU been?

Well, I’m back from Jamaica, and it feels good to be home, but oh man do I miss that beautiful island. So yea, also, I did get married if you haven’t noticed 🙂 I never felt so much joy and stress in one time I swear. I wanted it to all be over so we could relax and enjoy my honeymoon (which I did) but now I come back and most of my friends and family are gone…and I don’t want it to be over lol I had a fantastic time and I miss all you all so much, especially everyone that couldn’t come. I had a blast.

Now you can all quit your pitiful weeping because I’m still here, I’m just extremely busy with so many things I haven’t been able to post.

…in the mean time there may be an image or two that pop up on here, but I will DEFINITELY HAVE ARTWORK by December 13th when the company I work for (Broken Bulb) releases it’s new Miscrits game.  There will be loads of artwork that I can finally show that has only been seen by a select lucky few! 😛

Mawriage, twuu wuuv…

I’m getting married this Friday on 11/11/11 and after that we are off to Jamaica for 8 days for our honey moon!  Woo I’m havin a good time, but things are really hectic and I’ve been busy non-stop with all the family/friends coming and going so don’t expect to see any artwork for the next couple of weeks.  However, I plan on having a contest when I get back to celebrate reaching over 5000 views (not to mention over 33,000 views of my deviations!) so check back again soon!

My Mission.

I created this for my “Finding Purpose” class at ASU, and I could have slacked off with it, but I decided to put a lot of thought into it and make it a serious long-lasting Mantra for my life.  The Finding Purpose class is run by PHD Psychologist William Heywood who basically gives us tools and perspectives on how to understand ourselves better, and find our direction and future in life (among many other insightful things such as how to deal with negative situations and have a happy/healthy body and mind).   The Mission Statement is filled with words to live by that I can look to in times of need, but really most of them could apply to anyone out there.  I also created the symbol myself, it is the same symbol I have on my tattoo, which is the combination of the cross and the ohm symbol.  In my opinion these are the two most recognizable symbols of Eastern & Western religion/philosophy, which comprise the basis of my beliefs.

If you would like to use this image yourself, go ahead, you can even take my name off too…all that I ask is you please acknowledge me as the creator wherever you place, post, or show the image.

Zombie Bird Pinata – in a Museum!

This monstrous beast of a bird was concocted a couple years ago for my first 3D sculpture class.  I originally made it with another student partner (whose bird was a pretty little thing) which my demonoid creation was stalking for a midnight snack.  All the feathers are real ostrich feathers that my partner donated too (she works at the zoo)!

So the story behind it is that we were assigned to make pinatas for a Mutant Pinata show held by Beatrice Moore at the Bragg’s Pie Factory in Phoenix.  It was a fantastically fun affair, and she’s been putting it on for several years now with hundreds of Pinatas.  Eventually I got an offer to sell my Pinata, and being the poor artist I finally caved, which I now somewhat regret (but I can and will make an even better one some day).  Fortunately the person I sold it to (Susan Copeland) willingly submitted it to an art exhibit, so in the end it was all for the best because I probably would have been too lazy 🙂  It has already traveled the country in one show, and has entered it’s second country-wide show where you see these pictures from.  If you want to see this grizzly mean bastard bird for yourself, all you have to go is drop by opening day (or a few weeks after I’m sure) at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA) on October 28th at 7:00pm for the People’s Biennial.  There are a lot of other interesting exhibits to see there besides mine too, so you should go if you live in AZ!

Final Blog Contest Winner Sketch

Time for the last Blog Contest Winner’s character sketch.  This one kind of reminds me a little of Hermoine Granger from Harry Potter.  The character is named Cassie, and was concocted by the mind of Brooke at Paper Mountain brookerbusse.blogspot.com.  She is a sassy purple-eyed teenager who loves to lecture, but still has enough sense of humor to laugh at herself for it.

2 More Contest Winners

Another round of contest winners, wahoo!  Bear in mind these are all teen-adventure/fantasy books that these contest winners have won so all of the characters are teenagers.

First is Tenny, a character created by Jeigh @ writerbrained.blogspot.com, she’s a shy naive girl next door.

Second is Grey, Bess’s character from bessweatherby.com, he’s an awkward but somewhat cocky rich boy who doesn’t really fit into the the attention his position garners.

Blog Contest Winners

My lovely Jess has put on a contest recently on her blog  at concretepiecesofsoul.blogspot.com.  There were 3 winners, and each of them won a free sketch!  You could win a free sketch too if you follow me or Jess, but for now check back to see the next 2 sketches that are to come.

This one is for Julie at rosewoodpencilbox.blogspot.com.  The character is named “Bell” and he is a 16 year old troubled teen dealing with an unfortunate fantastical turn of events in the book he so dejectedly grips in his hand.

Miscrits Volcano Island Wallpaper

Well it’s been a while, but I assure anyone whose watched me that it isn’t because I’m being lazy. There is a lot of of work I haven’t been able to show from my job at Broken Bulb, and still so much more I can’t show until Volcano Island and Lost Moons are finished (2 of their game titles).

This is a wallpaper I painted in photoshop for the new add-on to our Facebook game “Miscrits: Volcano Island”. The Flaming Gorilla, affectionately called “Lavarilla” was created by another artist (Matt Stone) and I created the Hippo Shark baddy to the right, by the awesome name of “Gippo.” You can find the wallpaper at http://www.miscrits.com/forums/showthread.php?11244-Meet-Lavarilla!-Wallpaper!-AND-a-New-Miscrit!

Final round of free sketches

Once again I did some free sketches for getting over 100 watchers on Deviant Art (109 as I’m writing this, yay) so I’ve been giving away sketches to whoever requests something.

This last round was for Catelyn Stark from the George RR Martin Game of Thrones series, and on the bottom is Roxas from the Kingdom Hearts games.
