Welp I’m back in business. My back is getting better because of some changes I’ve been making, and now I’m ordering an Ergotron LX (for those of you who’ve never heard of it, it’s a BADASS pivoting arm that you can attach a flatscreen monitor, Cintiq, laptop, or tablet too…google it!)
So, today I’ve decided to start sharing some Miscrits artwork with you all! First are the backgrounds, and oh how ooey gooey delicious they look, like little candy cane lands lol. After these I’ll post the Miscrits I made for Monk’s Mountain, and then the sketches for those Miscrits, so check back the next couple of days!

So I went to the chiropractor, and in an X-ray I kind of look like a merry-go-round animal. My spine is way too straight, definitely due to excessive artings, but things are getting better! I’m getting regular check-ups, and starting to feel pretty good. My back still bothers me, along with other crap that happens when you sit at a computer for hours a day, but I’m trying to make more positive changes to fix it all. My wife and I have already been eating these salad shaker things on a daily basis. If you haven’t heard, they’re great, you just layer a mason jar with salad ingredients and shake it up when you want a salad. You have to make sure you start with the dressing and then the mushy stuff on the bottom so you don’t wilt your greens, but if you do it right it lasts for a whole week!
Anyways, enough about my boring life, here’s some artistry!
This is the first major 3D image I’ve ever made. It still has some things I’d like to fix about it, but for a first I’m very happy with how it turned out and I hope you’ll like it too! It was made in Maya 2012 and took, I dunno, too long.

…but unfortunately for me it’s a reality. My back is seriously effed up at this point, so sadly I will have very little time spent on the PC even though there are a ton of things I want to post. Wish me luck, I’m going to need it. I just went to the Chiropractor the other day and things aren’t looking so hot. I won’t know the severity until he looks over the X-rays so cross your fingers.
In the meantime, here is a cute Valentines Day Hippo I did for my wife a few weeks ago

It has been quite some time since I’ve posted to my blog so I feel inclined to let you all know I still step foot on this earth 🙂 Unfortunately school+work has been kicking my ass, so much so that I’ve had to set aside doing freelance indefinitely. I know I will be posting some new work within the coming months, but currently there isn’t much polished stuff to show (except for Miscrits artwork). I’ve been having some serious back problems and will be seeing a Chiropractor, so I haven’t had the will-power to do any more personal paintings unfortunately, but I can let you in on a few things. The new Miscrits Monk’s Mountain should be released later today (Tuesday) if all goes well, so there will be a huge in-flux of work to show from that! Also I will be creating some “gift artwork” to thank a few people from my wedding a few months back, and also for my friend Megan whose wedding is coming up in June. On top of all of this I’ve been studying up a bit more on digital painting techniques, and learning a lot about Maya in one of my classes which focuses on 3D modelling. My mind has also been brimming with endless ideas for a Graphic Novel I’ve been thinking of for a couple years now, and it just keep filling up and up. It still has a looong way to go, but the plan is to focus on it during the summer and once schools out. If you’re interested in learning a little more, I’ll give a slight tid-bit of information: It’s geared towards adults, and will be set about 50 years in the future. The main character is an anti-hero who gathers a rag-tag group of vigilantes to fight against a new oppressive regime of capitalism that dominates the future. Of course there’s a lot more to it than that, just keep your pants on…

Lot of stuff going on lately, time to take a break… ahhh, that was nice, back to work.
I hope you enjoy these new Miscrits for Volcano Island and Monk’s Mountain, I think that Zaptor is one of my favs of my own creation now, and I have 4-5 other Miscrits I’ve created for Monk’s Mountain that will soon be airing as well 🙂

This was a painting for a client I created with Corel Painter 12, a fantastic program if you can get past the memory hogging and instability of it. I’m not afraid to admit I felt a real connection when painting this. To some it may sound kind of corny, but I felt as if Jesus were watching me for a moment, placing his hand on my shoulder, and saying “Nice work.” I don’t want to throw my religious ideals at any of you, so just enjoy the painting or don’t. I just hope it stirs some emotion for those that are interested, as for the rest, it’s just an interesting painting style I did for a freelance client.

Here are all of the Miscrit I’ve drawn up in the past 8 months that didn’t make it into the game for one reason or another. Some of them may actually be revisited and end up in the game, but 95% of them will never see a more colorful existence than the sketchbook 🙁 I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed concepting them!

So these are the new Miscrits that I’m allowed to show. Unfortunately I have twice as many as this, I just can’t show the rest of them yet. Oh, you’ll get them eventually, but for the mean time check out these tough little Miscrits from Volcano Island. Tune back in soon and I will next post sketches of the concepting that goes into creating a Miscrit. I may even show some progress images of a Miscrit eventually if there’s enough interest?

So here it is, the moment of glory. MISCRITS ARTWORK!!! First we start out with backgrounds, here are all of the new fight backgrounds I’ve created in the past couple months. Everything was painted in Adobe photoshop to fit the style of Miscrits: Volcano Island, an awesome free Facebook game made by my employer, Broken Bulb Studios. All the sketches are only posted here, so enjoy the newly released, never-before-seen awesomeness!
Tune in next time for actual MISCRITS! …PLUS sketches/concepts that go behind the making of them. Keep coming back and eventually I will release artwork for Miscrits that never made the cut and have only been seen by the super-human eyes of Broken Bulb Studios 😉

So a BUNCH of people came to my blog Dec. 13th, and I promised to have new art to show, but alas nothing was there. It was just my luck that I got some sort of stomach virus on Dec 13th, and now I’m playing catch-up at work. Not to mention, for those of you that are unaware, I’m also moving with my wife and puppy to a new Apartment THIS Saturday, so we’ve been doing a lot of packing in our free time.
Now… I know that though these are valid excuses, they are still excuses, you all logged on to find no new art and I apologize with exasperation.
I’M SO SORRY!
Ok, now that all my grovelling is out of the way, I assure you that I will be showing new artwork. You may just have to give it a few days because of holidays, moving, and work, but I promise I’ll get them on here AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I’ll try my darndest to get something by this Friday if I have time, at least a few pics for you to savor 😉
