Hello!  I’m Chris Clark, a professional artist and I focus on 2D characters, game art, animation, illustration, and design.  I also have experience with 3D programs and video editing software.  As a Lead Artist, I’ve had to wear many hats over the years.  I have a background as a lead, in teams, and working solo.  I currently reside in Des Moines Iowa, and I’m comfortable with working remotely.  I’m very passionate about art…I just love to make things and use my creativity. It brings me so much joy to see my ideas, or a client’s ideas, come to life!

First, I have a wonderful daughter, son, and adorable orange cat.  As an extrovert, I like to get out and spend time with people.  If you want to nerd out about something: I’m a lover of games, comedy, music, animation, and Star Trek.  I freaking love anything to do with dragons, so you know I’m a big fan of Game of ThronesD&D, Tolkien, and go to the Ren Faire every year!  I’m also into fantasy, sci-fi, cartoons, books, and comics.  I love to learn, so I’m constantly watching content on any subject, especially art and science!  Staying active is also important to me, so I get out to play pickleball, do yoga, hike, exercise, and drum. Now you know I’m a real human, and not an AI-generated robot sent to destroy humanity! Or do you?

  • Solely in charge of creating and managing characters, illustration, animation, and design.
  • Learned and became highly proficient in video editing, including content creation for YouTube videos and shorts.
  • Routinely collaborate, incorporate, and provide feedback to align with art direction, branding, and creative vision with artists and management.
  • Additional responsibilities include: Documentation, note-taking, presentations, and workflow tracking.

Lead 2D Artist, Animator – Mobile and Web: Feb 2014 – Dec 2023
Tynker – BYJU’s (Full-time Remote) Mountain View, CA

  • Developed original characters, animation, game art, concept art, and design (including company mascot “Codey”), leading to the success of top-performing games and courses.
  • Collaborated as Lead with 8 person Art-Design Team, providing and receiving feedback, vision, and guidance on artistic methods and style for projects.
  • Managed Animation pipeline, especially Spine rigs, while teaching advanced techniques to other artists.
  • Played a key role in the company’s growth, contributing to a revenue increase of $1M to $7M, leading to a $200M acquisition by BYJU’s and the scaling of the team from 8 to 40 employees.
  • Produced documentation, including style guides, character bibles, presentations, and instructional materials, while researching improvements on art processes, efficiency, revenue, and user engagement.
